Concentrate PodcastsThe Story
Born and raised in New Orleans, Blake Jarrell fell in love with electronic music after experiencing sets by progressive pioneers like Sasha and Sander Kleinenberg. His earliest productions were progressive breakbeat tracks, including his debut release on 3 Beat Breaks in 2004.
When Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans in 2005, Blake relocated to Chicago, a move that transformed his sound from progressive breaks into the progressive trance he's now known for worldwide.
Already establishing himself on the scene, Blake was hand-picked by Armin van Buuren to tour alongside him as direct support, spending over a decade and 60+ countries on the world's biggest stages. That global platform, combined with a relentless studio work ethic, cemented Blake as one of the most respected names in progressive electronic music.
His landmark track "Boracay" (2009) became a defining progressive trance anthem, and his catalog now spans 300+ productions on labels including Armada, Toolroom, Ultra, Black Hole, and Garuda, earning the support of Tiësto and Gabriel & Dresden along the way.
After stepping away from the scene to battle cancer, Blake re-emerged with a sharpened perspective and renewed purpose. That experience reshaped everything, bringing a deeper emotional gravity to his music and a clarity of vision that defines his current chapter.
Today, his sound sits at the intersection of progressive house, techno, and melodic trance, guided by depth, restraint, and long-form storytelling. Influenced by Hernan Cattaneo, Sasha, John Digweed, and Boards of Canada, Blake curates the weekly Concentrate Selections series, with forthcoming releases on Bedrock, UV, Ray Of Light, Mango Alley, and Dissident.
